Tampa Cargo names BA U.S. cargo sales agent

Tampa Cargo, a Latin American air cargo carrier, has appointed British Airways World Cargo to be its U.S. general sales agent.

Effective May 18, BA staff will sell U.S.-originating cargo capacity across Tampa Cargo's entire U.S. network, excluding Miami.

'Our industry is facing unprecedented challenges and this deal marks an important new revenue stream for our U.S. business,' said Joe LeBeau, BA World Cargo's vice president of commercial in the Americas, in a statement. BA described the deal as a 'U.S. industry first' involving two carriers.

Tampa Cargo was acquired by Colombian carrier Avianca in 2008. Since then, Tampa Cargo has managed both freighter and bellyhold capacity on behalf of Avianca from three online and 19 offline offices across the United States.
