Tampa expected to award signage improvement contract The Tampa Port Authority is expected to award a contract for port-wide signage improvements at its board meeting Tuesday.
   Port staff has recommended a contract for Tampa-based Trans Tec Electric, which submitted a low bid of $90,786 for the signage work, and has demonstrated its qualifications after a staff review. The bid bested a rival bid of $124,114 from Sign System & Graphics, also of Tampa.
   Staff recommendation calls for a contract not to exceed $125,000, which would include $34,000 in contingency funds or additional sign additions or changes that may be needed.
   Funding for the improvements is coming from a $225,000 grant from the Florida Department of Transportation to improve information, traffic and street signs at some 50 locations throughout the port.
