Tampa port seeking environmental projects

The Port of Tampa is seeking applications and concepts for the Sovereign Lands Management Initiatives Program, which has $50,000 in grant money available for environmental improvement projects in the greater Tampa area.

   The money is available for projects aimed at preservation, restoration, or enhancement of ecological resources in the Sovereignty areas of Hillsborough County that include Tampa Bay, the Alafia River, the Hillsborough River, the Little Manatee River, and Keystone or Thonotosassa lakes.

   Community groups, corporations, non-profit organizations, or government agencies can submit proposals to the Environmental Department, Tampa Port Authority, 1101 Channelside Drive, Tampa, FL 33602 up until 2 p.m. on Friday, August 25.
