Ismail had been CEO since 2008 and led the port to new levels of growth, the port said in a statement.
“PTP is perhaps the only major port in the world that has grown container throughput volume in a very challenging 2009,” it said, adding that the port will announce its throughput volume as the numbers are tallied up at year-end.
Starting Jan, 1, Deputy CEO Azlan Shahrim will head the agency until a new chief executive officer is appointed, the port said.
