TCC to add second transpacific string in April

The Containership Co. will start a new service connecting South China and the U.S. West Coast beginning in April, the carrier’s Chief Operating Officer Franck Kayser confirmed to American Shipper Tuesday.

The new service was reported Monday by the maritime news service Alphaliner. Kayser said the rotation for the service is to be determined, but that the line is accepting cargo in South China. TCC already operates a service, the Great Dragon service, connecting Taicang, Qingdao, and Ningbo with Los Angeles. The service is advertised as a no-frills, port-to-port loop, using five ships of around 3,000 TEUs capacity.

TCC began operations in April 2009 with the Great Dragon loop.
