Aljex Software partners with cloud-based supply chain software provider Logistical Labs and KVH Industries improves VoiP on maritime ships.
The logistics solutions provider Aljex Software has inked a partnership with cloud-based supply chain software provider Logistical Labs to integrate Aljex’s software-as-a-service system with Logistical Labs’ pricing platform LoadDex.
The integration is designed to allow Aljex users to make more efficient, better-informed pricing and quoting decisions without leaving the Aljex application. Aljex provides hosted operations software for freight brokers, 3PLs and carriers.
Logistical Labs’ LoadDex aggregates historical, social and external pricing information for any given route and is designed to allow users to make strategic decisions about pricing and mode selection. LoadDex collects relevant historical, social and external pricing data through interactive tools to accurately track and quickly compare rates.
The satellite communications provider KVH Industries has introduced a new dedicated voice configuration for its mini-VSAT Broadband global maritime satellite network to improve voice over internet protocol service aboard maritime vessels.
The service is primarily aimed at making calls from ships clearer. VoIP, which utilizes an Internet connection to transmit voice signals, is the primary method for vessels to conduct phone calls from sea.
“The network’s (VoIP) service is now delivered on a prioritized and protected data stream, separate from the network’s overall broadband data traffic,” KVH said in a statement. “VoIP service is also prioritized onboard the vessel for quality VoIP service even during times of heaviest broadband data use.”
