Telecom network to aid border security

Telecom network to aid border security

The U.S. and Mexican governments have signed an agreement to support a new cross border communications network to help public safety and law enforcement organizations share voice, data and video information.

The Department of Homeland Security said it will work with the Secretariat of Public Security in Mexico to coordinate installation of the network and develop interoperable standards for its use. The telecommunications network is viewed as a key tool to improve border security and reduce border violence.
