Teofilo to retire from Port of Long Beach

Teofilo to retire from Port of Long Beach    Longtime industry veteran Tom Teofilo will retire in late April from his post as the Port of Long Beach’s managing director of maritime services, the port said Tuesday.
   Teofilo, in his second stint with the port, has held the position since 2004, when he left the Pacific Merchant Shipping Association, where he was Southern California vice president. With more than 35 years in the maritime industry, Teofilo said in a statement that he will devote his time to pursuing new opportunities in his family business.
   As managing director, he headed a bureau that included the marketing, public affairs and security divisions for the nations’ second-largest port. One of his projects was to help develop the port’s recently released 10-year strategic plan.
   Teofilo also served as president and chief executive officer of the World Trade Center Association of Los Angeles-Long Beach, and was former president and owner of the World Trade Services Group, and former senior vice president of Korea Shipping Corp.
