The case of the purloined pizza cheese

A trailer with cheese for Hungry Howie’s Pizza chain went missing from a Florida truck stop.    A trailer with $85,000 worth of shredded mozzarella cheese destined for a Hungry Howie’s Pizza distribution center in Lakeland, Fla., was stolen Sunday from a truck stop after the driver left to get the tractor repaired, according to an incident report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.  
   The driver was carrying a load for Michigan-based L&C Farms to the Lakeland DC. Hungry Howie’s is based in Madison Heights, Mich.
   A separate Kenworth tractor was also reported missing from the same truck stop off Highway 441. The driver for Mid-West Continental reported that the cab was locked and that the suspect had to unhook the trailer.
   One possible explanation is that the stolen tractor was used to drive away with the other trailer.
   Cargo theft is a concern for supply chain managers and security experts warn truck drivers to take precautions at truck stops.
