TIACA convention set to land in Atlanta The International Air Cargo Association said Atlanta has won the bid to host the International Air Cargo Forum and Exhibition in 2012, bringing the biennial event to the United States for the first time in 12 years.
   Atlanta, which has evolved into a major center of logistics activity in the Southeast, hosted the trade association’s first event back in 1962.
   Atlanta bid supporters included Mayor Shirley Franklin, Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, UPS, Delta Air Lines and World Airways.
   Atlanta’s airport supports more than 60 all-cargo international flights per week and handled a record 391,909 tons of freight in 2006.
   Air cargo professionals will gather in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia for TIACA’s annual trade show this year and in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, in 2010.
