TISCHLER TO JOIN PINKERTON

TISCHLER TO JOIN PINKERTON    Bonnie G. Tischler, who recently retired as the U.S. Customs Service Assistant Commissioner of the Office of Field Operations, has been named product vice president of Pinkerton Consulting and Investigations.
   She will begin work in August at Pinkerton’s Arlington, Va., office for transportation and supply chain security programs.
   In July 2000, Tischler became the first woman to serve as head of the OFO, Customs’ largest division with more than 12,000 employees and a budget of around $1 billion per year.
   In this role, she was responsible for antiterrorism efforts, trade compliance, antismuggling, outbound and passenger operations at 301 ports of entry. Prior to that assignment, Tischler served as Customs’ assistant commissioner of the Office of Investigations, where she was the first woman to assume that role.
   Tischler began her Customs career 30 years ago. In 1977, she was promoted to special agent, and in 1980 she participated in Operation Greenback, a successful pilot anti-money laundering project created by the U.S. Department of Treasury. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, she served as special agent in charge of Customs in North and South Florida.
