TNT agent in sub-Saharan Africa

   TNT Express said Wednesday it has appointed a new agent in eight sub-Saharan African countries as part of a plan to improve its network capabilities, service and market share in the region.
   Getma, a subsidiary of the French transport and logistics group NCT Necotrans, will handle the collection and delivery of imports and exports for TNT Express in Mali, Togo, Benin, Ivory Coast, Chad, Niger, Equatorial Guinea and Angola effective by the end of the first quarter of 2012. 
   “Getma’s network covers the whole Atlantic coastline between Mauritania and South Africa, as well as countries without seaports such as Mali and Chad,” TNT said in a statement. “TNT’s customers will benefit from improved customs management and transit times for their exports or imports to and from sub-Saharan Africa. As an example, TNT Express can now guarantee a delivery from Paris to Bamako within 48 hours.”
