TNT expands coverage in Nordic countries

The express delivery company improved air connections to Sweden and Finland and added additional last-mile delivery capacity in large business centers.    TNT announced it improved air connections to Sweden and Finland and added additional last-mile delivery capacity in large business centers, which went into effect in August and early September.
   These improvements, which expanded the company’s coverage of its international, morning delivery services in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland, resulted in TNT now being able to serve 15 percent more post codes and 34 percent more businesses in the region by noon the following business day.
   TNT has added or improved morning coverage in Stockholm, Malmo and Gothenburg in Sweden; Aarhus and Aalborg in Denmark; Oslo and Stavanger in Norway; and Helsinki in Finland.
   “We have expanded the number of locations for our international, next-day morning deliveries in the Nordics to help our customers who need speed and certainty. These latest improvements are part of TNT’s Outlook strategy to strengthen our position in Europe,” TNT, International Europe Managing Director Ian Clough said in a statement.
   The company’s recent operational improvements in its road and air networks allowed for the expansion to be possible, TNT said. Since Sept. 7, the express delivery company has reintroduced flights from Liege to Stockholm and Örebro, which allows earlier arrival times for imports and later departures for exports. The service operates with a B737 five times a week. In addition, the company selected new distribution partners to speed up deliveries in and around Stockholm, Malmo and Örebro earlier this year.
   In Finland, the company’s daily B737 freighter service from Liege to Turku will add a stop in Helsinki, which allows the company to reach the capital city three hours earlier and offer more morning delivery options.
   In Denmark, TNT increased PUD capabilities around Copenhagen and Billund to deliver more morning shipments. The company did the same around Oslo and Stavanger in Norway.
