TNT Express breaks ground on Saudi hub

TNT Express has broken ground on a 9.5 million euro, air-road hub in Saudi Arabia, which will delivery in January 2015.
The facility will span 10,000 square meters, but the company itself will only lease 4,800 square meters for sorting and customs clearance. Nearly 80 employees will work at the new hub.
The facility at the King Fahd International Airport in Dammam is a significant upgrade over TNT’s current 1,000-square-meter space in the area that it shares with other operators.
“TNT Express will be able to clear its customers’ goods quicker, with the additional space allowing more regular movements of trailers in and out of the clearance area,” according to a company statement. “A broader clearance window, with the ability to handle TNT Express’ economy express, full trailer loads and airfreight consignments, will further strengthen service to clients.”
