Local fire officials said a forklift punctured a 5-gallon container of liquid capsaicin, a chili pepper component that’s an active ingredient of pepper spray.
A FedEx spokesman told the news outlets that the capsaicin was en route to be made into hot sauce.
The spill occurred in the heavyweight cargo section of the hub, which also serves as a parcel sort center. The affected area was closed for less than an hour to deal with the spill.
