He is responsible for the Jacksonville, Fla.-based company's sales and marketing efforts. He replaces Adam E. Gawrysh Jr., who will leave the company on May 27.
Fernandez joins Trailer Bridge after 24 years with Horizon Lines, where he most recently served as vice president for the eastern region and Puerto Rico sales. He began his career in 1982 as a deck officer with Sun Oil Co. and later served in management roles with Sea-Land Service and BridgePoint, a technology subsidiary of CSX. He joined Horizon in 2001.
Meanwhile, in filings with Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday, it was revealed that Trailer Bridge director Allen L. Stevens has purchased 500,000 shares of stock from fellow director Malcom P. McLean Jr., son of Trailer Bridge’s founder.
