Transplace signs up toymaker Winston

   The Dallas-based 3PL Transplace said Tuesday it has won a deal from the toy manufacturer Winston Co. to manage inbound U.S. shipments from Ningbo, China.
   Winston, based in Tulsa, Okla. and Bentonville, Ark., supplies to some of the world’s largest retailers, specializing in the production of scooters and quad cars. Transplace said it will also manage specific domestic services for Winston beginning in 2012.
   “Transplace strives to become a partner versus a service-provider, which is extremely important for our supply chain goals,” said Michael Bahn, director of global supply chain, Winston International.
   Winston will use Transplace to provide visibility into inbound ocean containers from Asia to the toy manufacturer’s facility in Long Beach, assisting with inventory management and minimizing the manual work involved in manufacturer’s daily operations, Transplace said. The 3PL will also provide vendor management training to staff on-site in China.
