Trinidad president pushing industrialization

Trinidad president pushing industrialization Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Patrick Manning said his country is moving 'full speed ahead' with its industrialization program.
   Speaking at the Assembly of the African Union in Ethiopia Monday, he said Trinidad and Tobago has just approved the construction of an aluminum smelter this year, and the country will have two in place by 2012, according to a report in the Trinidad Guardian. In addition, he said the government is pushing for development of chemical production facilities that 'will be the building blocks of the plastics industry.'
   Manning said he hopes his country will be developing closer ties with the energy industry in African nations.
