Trinidad selects firm for offshore pipelines

The national gas company for Trinidad and Tobago, the single-largest U.S. supplier of liquefied natural gas, has awarded a contract for two offshore pipelines to a French oil services firm.

The National Gas Co. of Trinidad and Tobago Ltd. awarded the pipeline contract to Technip SA, according to an Associated Press report. Terms were not disclosed.

The company will build two undersea pipelines in the Caribbean Sea for transporting gas from new offshore production fields off the north coast to the existing pipeline network in Trinidad. The pipelines are expected to be finished by the end of 2009, the report said.
