Tropical said the rate hike is due to the increasing cost of operations. Rates will increase by $75 for both 20-foot dry and reefer containers, $150 for 40-foot dry and reefer containers, and $180 for 40-foot-plus equipment.
For less-than-containerload, breakbulk and vehicles, the increase will come to $3.60 per applicable weight or measure unit.
In addition to shipments between the U.S. mainland and Barbados, the rate hike will apply to Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands shipments to and from Barbados.
