The new vessel, the Tropic Dawn, was built in Indonesia in 2006 and can carry 120 loaded 20-foot containers of lift-on/lift-off cargo, or 45 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of roll-on/roll-off cargo. The vessel can carry reefer containers and has ramp strength of 20 metric tons per square meter and deck strength of 15 metric tons per square meter.
'Our new vessel gives us the flexibility to deliver a large amount of both containerized and roll-on roll-off cargo to some smaller, shallow-draft ports,' Tropical president Rick Murrell commented. 'With a draft of less than 10 feet, the Tropic Dawn will also be instrumental in delivering cargo and equipment to the major construction projects underway in the region.'
