Troy follows customers to the Web

Non-vessel-operating common carrier Troy Container Line has launched a new interactive Website, www.TroyLines.com, focused on easing the use of its tools by freight forwarding customers.
Troy initiated the new site because customers are already turning to the Web for bookings and it needed to present a clean, easy-to-use offering that wouldn’t frustrate them.
“In 2011, more than 50 percent of Troy Container Line’s rate quotes were generated through our Website and online bookings have increased by an estimated 25 percent in recent months,” said Michael Cadden Troy, the NVO’s chief executive officer. “This signified a major shift in what our customers are looking for in terms of Web-based service.”
The new site is designed to feature online rate tools, a searchable list of shipping origins and destinations, and up-to-date sailing schedules, all of which can be translated into multiple languages. On the site, customers can also get quotes for bookings and arrange for warehouse pickups and delivery services. The NVO’s Website provides a freight calculator, tracking and tracing tools, and currency converter.
