Troy starts Chicago-to-Rotterdam service

   Non-vessel-operating common carrier Troy Container Line has started a new less-than-containerload service from Chicago to Rotterdam.
   The direct, 16-day service will begin on May 21 with a sailing on board the APL Melbourne. Also included are reduced rates to Hungary, Ireland and Prague from the Midwest, the Red Bank, N.J.-based NVO said.
   Patricia L. Fitzgerald, Troy Container’s chief operating officer of exports, said the NVO will distinguish the service from its competitors by “cutting transit times by seven days and reducing costs by at least 5 percent, which, as always, will be passed onto our clients.”
   For the service, Troy Container will ship cargo from any of its 20 warehouses located throughout the United States via the new direct service. The company also has the ability to pick up LCL cargo from any door location in the United States.
   The NVO continues to expand its U.S. export services and earlier this year announced a new direct consolidation service to Liverpool and Manchester in the United Kingdom.
