TRUCK-SIZE RADIATION DETECTORS INSTALLED ON CANADA BORDER    The lead U.S. border protection agency has installed roadside devices at several locations to detect radiation in vehicles crossing the northern border, said Jayson Ahern, assistant commissioner for field operations for the U.S. Bureau of Customs and Border Protection.
   The so-called portal detectors, which can detect and analyze radioactive isotopes in trucks, containers and cars, have been installed at the Detroit and Buffalo ports of entry, Ahern said at a U.S. Chamber of Commerce symposium Thursday. Port Huron will receive portal detectors in May.
   The Customs agency announced plans for the large, ultra-sensitive detectors this year, but has not disclosed until this point actual locations where they will be deployed.
