TSA studies motor carrier security A one-year trial program to interview truckers in Missouri has helped the U.S. Transportation Security Administration take stock of current security practices and vulnerabilities in the industry, the agency said last week.
   Forty Missouri Department of Transportation safety inspectors trained by TSA conducted interviews with representatives from more than 2,000 motor carriers as part of an effort to identify baseline risks and security practices that can be used to enhance training materials, develop security brochures and standards for smaller carriers.
   Truckers said the exercise helped heighten their awareness and take steps to address security gaps, according to TSA.
   The agency plans to conduct another pilot program in other states to gather data on security practices of hazardous material carriers.
