TTI crosses 1 million lift barrier    Total Terminals International, a partnership between Marine Terminals Corp. and Hanjin Shipping, said the terminal handled one million container lifts in 2005 at its Pier T Long Beach location.
   The millionth lift, a Hanjin container on the “Hanjin Baltimore,” took place Dec. 28, just 38 months after the terminal opened in October 2002.
   The terminal receives calls from several carriers, including Hanjin, Yang Ming Line, COSCO, K Line, Wan Hai, Sinotrans, U.S. Lines, Maruba and China Shipping.
   The 345-acre facility, expanding to 380 by early 2007, averages 3,000 gate moves per day shift and 1,300 per night shift, TTI said in a statement. Terminal equipment includes 14 gantry cranes, 21 transtainers and 35 top-handlers.
   The terminal’s on-dock rail services also experienced growth in 2005, increasing overall lifts 30 percent to 236,185 containers.
