Tulsa Port of Catoosa reports August volumes

A total of 155,990 tons of cargo moved through the inland river port via barge in August, according to the most recent figures from the port.    Tulsa Port of Catoosa, an inland river port in Northeast Oklahoma, reported that 155,990 tons of cargo moved through the port via barge in August.
The port attributed strong August results to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ successful efforts to reduce areas of shoaling, which resulted from heavy rain earlier in the year.
The port experienced higher amounts of outbound wheat and fertilizer shipments. In addition, tonnage for almost all inbound and outbound commodities was higher.
For the month of August, total shipping for the entire McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System, a 445 mile navigation channel that originates at Tulsa Port of Catoosa and runs southeast through Oklahoma and Arkansas to the Mississippi River, was 1.22 million tons, 540,143 tons of which were shipped through Oklahoma.
The Tulsa Port of Catoosa handled 13 percent of cargo shipped on the navigation system in August and 29 percent of the cargo that moved through Oklahoma.
