Turning anxiety into action

A feeling of being overwhelmed by technology options can paralyze shippers, but a new report from American Shipper shows how to get past that anxiety and make digital progress.    Technology is an inherently anxiety-inducing problem for most shippers.
   That’s because there are a thousand different paths toward introducing more technology into logistics and broader supply chain processes. But it’s important that shippers not get overwhelmed by it all, to not feel that other companies are too far down the path of digitalization to be caught.
   A new white paper by American Shipper, “The Digital Transformation of Logistics and Supply Chain: You’re Not as Far Behind as You Think,” seeks to give shippers a clear-headed view of how technology is impacting their industry and ways to avoid technology anxiety.
   The paper urges shippers to focus on technologies that are realistic and available today, and to not get paralyzed by the consideration of bleeding edge technologies that don’t yet have a mature ecosystem of providers.
   The paper also gives a blueprint for achieving digital transformation through incremental and achievable investment. Even the most sophisticated supply chains started small and gather pace.
   Included in the report are examples of major shippers and their digital paths, as well as a deep dive into how supply chain visibility can engender broader technology developments.
   Many companies feel they’re being left behind in the digital revolution in logistics and supply chain. But most can catch up quickly. Standing still isn’t an option.
