TV show spotlights carriers of unusual cargo

Reality television has made stars of purveyors of expensive cupcakes and gritty fisherman. Next week it’s the shipping industry’s turn.
For viewers who could not get enough of UPS logistics ads and arctic truckers, the cable network A&E has created Shipping Wars, a series that will follow “six independent shippers who have discovered that fortunes can be made transporting items that traditional carriers won’t touch.”
A&E promises each episode “dives into the cutthroat world of these heavy-duty movers as they battle for the chance to transport the unshippable.” The competition starts with uShip, the world’s biggest online auction house for independent truckers.
   The show begins Jan. 10.
