Two companies start operations in Busan logistics zone The Busan Port Authority on Tuesday said two logistics companies began operations this week in the port's Distripark complex, a free zone logistics area adjacent to Busan Newport.
   That brings the number of companies in Distripark to six, with 22 companies expected to move into the complex by the end of 2009.
   The two companies are First Class Logistics, a consortium of five South Korean and Japanese companies, and Saebang Busan New Port Logistics, founded by three Korean and Chinese companies.
   FLC, BPA said, plans to provide comprehensive logistics service to its customers by doing high-value-added business such as labeling, assembling, processing and distributing after importing semifinished goods from China and Japan. It is expected to create 20,000 TEUs of cargo annually.
   Saebang will handle general and hazardous cargo and estimates it will handle 25,000 TEUs annually.
   Meanwhile, BPA also invited 250 shippers and logistics companies from Tianjin, China, to a seminar to drum up business between Busan and the northern Chinese port city as transpacific trade recedes. Another seminar is scheduled to be held Wednesday in Qingdao.
