Two firms in for development of Iraqi port
The Iraqi Transport Ministry said over the weekend that it has signed contracts with French firm CMA CGM and a joint German-Kuwaiti company to invest in two commercial wharfs in the port at Umm Qasr, according to a report Sunday in the Middle East business news outlet Zawya.
The contracts call for the construction of new docks and container-handling facilities, according to a statement from the ministry.
Umm Qasr is located in southern Iraq on a canal that leads to the Persian Gulf.
