Two Waterman vessels enter U.S. security program

Waterman Steamship Corp. has transferred two geared container vessels to the U.S. flag from the Netherlands registry, said Erik F. Johnsen, chairman of the shipping line's parent company, New Orleans-based International Shipholding Corp.

The reflagged vessels, the 'P&O Nedlloyd Vera Cruz' and the 'P&O Nedlloyd Buenos Aires,' have been approved and entered into the United States Maritime Security Program by the U.S. Maritime Administration. Both ships will sail with American maritime crews.

Waterman acquired the two ships from P&O Nedlloyd. They have been chartered long-term to Farrell Lines Inc., a Delaware corporation.
