U.A.E.-U.S. trade skyrocketing, says report A report released in January from the U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council said the value of U.S. goods exported to the United Arab Emirates increased 352 percent from $2.6 billion in 2001 to $11.9 billion in 2006.
   “This is far greater than the 42 percent increase for overall U.S. exports around the world,” the report said.
   It also pointed out that the U.A.E.’s share of U.S. exports to the Middle East rose from 25 percent in 2001 to 49 percent in 2006. Meanwhile, U.S. foreign direct investment into the U.A.E. rising 445 percent from 2001 to 2006 to $4.5 billion, as opposed to a 62 percent increase worldwide.
   Among the specific examples of two-way trade between the countries, the report noted the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority’s $7.5 billion infusion in the Citibank, and Emirates Airlines’ $3.2 billion order of Boeing planes.
