U.S. airlines’ international cargo up 11.6 percent in August

U.S. airlines’ international cargo up 11.6 percent in August    International air freight and express cargo carried by U.S. airlines rose 11.6 percent to 999 million revenue ton-miles in August, led by rapid growth in volumes on the Pacific routes, the U.S. Air Transport Association reported.
   Freight and express activity on Pacific routes increased 12.2 percent to about 522 million revenue ton-miles in August. Atlantic routes experienced 11.3 percent cargo growth to 377 million revenue ton-mile, while the increase on Latin routes was 9.7 percent, to about 100 million revenue ton-miles.
   For the first eight months of the year, freight and express cargo carried by the association’s airlines increased 9.8 percent year-on-year to 7.7 billion revenue ton-miles.
