U.S. Ambassador Ertharin Cousin has been named executive director of the United Nations World Food Program.
She has served as the U.S. representative to the UN Agencies for Food and Agriculture in Rome for more than two years, helping to carry out President Obama’s global food security policy and other matters related to the production of food and agriculture.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture works closely with the World Food Program, especially through the McGovern-Dole International Food for Education and Child Nutrition Program and Local and Regional Pilot Procurement Program.
