U.S. Coast Guard gains new cutter
The U.S. Coast Guard will commission the new cutter Alligator on Monday at the port of St. Petersburg, Fla.
The ship's sponsor is Pat Mica, wife of Rep. John Mica, ranking Republican on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee from Florida.
The Alligator is an 87-foot Marine Protector Class cutter built to help increase the Coast Guard's maritime safety and security on the high seas. The vessel will join a fleet of four patrol boats already stationed in St. Petersburg.
