U.S. commission to determine harm from imports to domestic shrimpers

The U.S. International Trade Commission will investigate whether domestic shrimpers are injured by imports from Brazil, China, Ecuador, India, Thailand and Vietnam.

The ITC was petitioned by the Washington-based Ad Hoc Shrimp Trade Action Committee to conduct an antidumping investigation into shrimp imports. The committee alleges that imports are sold in the United States at less than fair value.

The agency is expected to include its preliminary determination by Feb. 17. It will then forward its findings to the Commerce Department by Feb. 24.
