U.S. Customs disburses $190 million in Byrd Amendment claims

U.S. Customs disburses $190 million in Byrd Amendment claims    U.S. Customs and Border Protection has paid out about $190 million to companies that were injured by imports either dumped on the U.S. market at less than fair market value or were subsidized by foreign governments in 2003.
   The agency will disburse another $50 million pending the results of a court case.
   The 2000 Continued Dumping and Subsidy Offset Act, better known as the Byrd Amendment, requires U.S. Customs to disburse antidumping and countervailing duties to domestic producers injured by unfair overseas dumping and subsidies.
