Cleveland-based LCA, which represents 18 American companies operating 63 U.S.-flag vessels, said the lack of dredging and falling water levels on the Great Lakes again resulted in cargo being left behind.
Through August, U.S.-flag carriage on the Great Lakes stood at 62.7 million tons, a 5.1 percent decrease from the same point in 2006, and only marginally ahead of the five-year average for the January-August timeframe.
