U.S., French Customs compare notes

U.S., French Customs compare notes    J'r'me Fournel, France's Customs and Excise General Director, met with U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials in Washington on Tuesday to discuss bilateral cooperation on border and supply chain security.
   The French delegation was also scheduled to visit CBP's National Targeting Center for cargo and tour CBP operations on the Southwest Border. French Customs is interested in learning more about high-tech detection systems and other capabilities used to protect the border, the agency said.

   Commissioner Alan Bersin, in addition to meeting with his French counterpart, this week participated in a meeting at Department of Homeland Security headquarters with Secretary Janet Napolitano and industry officials to discuss progress on air cargo security, chaired the Commercial Operations Advisory Committee meeting, and hosted more than 700 private sector compliance specialists at the annual Trade Symposium.
