Maritime Administrator Clyde Hart will lead a U.S. delegation in talks
with Japanese government officials in Tokyo Oct. 14 and 15.
The U.S. requested the talks to voice concern over the slow pace of port
reforms in Japan, which were agreed to by the Japanese government in 1997.
Hart’s delegation will also meet with Korean maritime officials in Seoul
on Oct. 18 to discuss Korea’s new liner shipping regulations and Korea’s bilateral
maritime agreements with other nations, including the People’s Republic of China.
