U.S./Oceania service switching to Charleston call

A Maersk Line/Hamburg Sud service linking the U.S. East Coast with ports in Australia and New Zealand will switch calls from Savannah to Charleston in September, according to a note from the German line.
The 10-ship service will have a revised rotation of Philadelphia, Charleston, Cartagena, Balboa, Auckland, Sydney, Melbourne, Port Chalmers, Timaru, Napier, Tauranga, Auckland, Manzanillo (Panama), Cartagena, and Philadelphia.
Both Maersk and Hamburg Sud provide five ships on the service, with an average ship size of 3,414 TEUs, according to American Shipper affiliate ComPair Data. Mediterranean Shipping Co., Hapag-Lloyd, and Alianca take slots on the service.
The first ship to call Charleston on the revised rotation will be the Bahia Grande on Sept. 21. – Eric Johnson
