The U.S. State Department will take the lead in addressing liner
shipping anti-trust reforms suggested in a working paper published by the
Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.
The OECD paper says that the "time has come to reassess total
protection from anti-trust legislation" and asked member nations to
consider eliminating the right of conferences and discussion agreements to
set or agree on rates.
A State Department official said the U.S. position will be submitted to
the OECD by August.
