U.S. to strengthen trade ties with Georgia at Oct. 26-28 meetings

U.S. to strengthen trade ties with Georgia at Oct. 26-28 meetings The U.S. Commerce Department will host the U.S.-Georgia Business Summit as part of a U.S.-led trade mission to Tbilisi, Georgia, on Oct. 26-28.
The department said the summit, scheduled for Oct. 27, will highlight U.S. resources for expanding trade and investment with the recently war-battered Black Sea country.
Summit participants will include Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvik; Georgian Prime Minister Vladimer Gurgenidze; Robert Mosbacher Jr., president and chief executive officer of the Overseas Private Investment Corp.; and Larry Walther, director of the U.S. Trade and Development Agency.
“This emerging economy offers U.S. businesses the opportunity to expand into a dynamic and business-friendly market eager to work with U.S. partners,” said Commerce Deputy Secretary John Sullivan, in a statement.
The trade mission is being organized by the America-Georgia Business Council and the American Chamber of Commerce in Georgia and is certified by the U.S. Commerce Department.
U.S. firms attending the trade mission and summit activities will have an opportunity to explore new trade and investment opportunities, hold one-on-one meetings with Georgian companies, and learn about how to contribute to Georgia’s reconstruction, the Commerce Department said.
