U.S. trade mission to Qatar, UAE

Commerce Department’s Undersecretary for International Trade Francisco Sánchez will lead a U.S. trade delegation to Qatar and the United Arab Emirates on Oct. 30-Nov. 3 to promote U.S. goods, services, and technologies in the multi-modal transportation and energy infrastructure sectors.
Representatives from 14 U.S.-based companies, including Boeing, Dais Analytic Corp., DBi Services, Herzog Cos., Lane International, MagneMotion, Manufacturers Industrial Group, Orca Maritime, Parsons Corp., Rapiscan Systems, Target Engineering Group, Technology International, TransCore, and Wilbur Smith Associates, along with the Transportation Department will join Sánchez on the mission.
“This region is growing rapidly and has large amounts of money to spend on infrastructure, transportation, energy, and telecommunications,” Sánchez said.
The delegation will promote multimodal transportation systems, products, and technologies; energy products and services; smart grid technologies; and mass transportation systems with foreign businesses, buyers, and governments.
The United States is the largest exporter of goods and services to Qatar, and the U.A.E. was the United States’ largest export market in the Middle East and North Africa last year. In 2010, U.S. exports to Qatar topped $3.1 billion, and exports to U.A.E. totaled more than $11.6 billion.
