UASC will have a majority ownership in United Arab Shipping Agency Co. (Asia) Pte. Ltd., which will assume agency duties for the Kuwait-based ocean carrier in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore through its own entities and in China, Vietnam and the Philippines through sub-agents, effective Jan. 1.
'We are pleased to continue our more than 35-year-long relationship, providing UASC with a solid platform on which to build our future growth in major markets in the Asia Pacific region,' said Ken Bloch Soerensen, UASC's president and chief executive officer.
UASC is jointly owned by the six shareholding states from the Arabian Gulf: U.A.E., Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Qatar and Kuwait.
