UASC SECURES SPACE ON NEW ASIA/U.S. EAST COAST SERVICES

United Arab Shipping Co. has made slot-charter agreements with Hanjin Shipping and Yang Ming that allow it to provide two all-water Asia/U.S. East Coast weekly services via the Panama canal.

UASC now has space on AWE-H service of Hanjin and on Yang Ming’s AWE-Y loop in the transpacific, said Anil J. Vitharana, president of United Arab Agencies, the carrier’s general agent in the United States.

UASC had space on the “AWP” all-water Asia/U.S. East Coast service of Hanjin, which was terminated in early January as part of a revamp of the transpacific and transatlantic services of the CKYHS global alliance.

Vitharana said that UASC also continues to provide a weekly U.S. East Coast/Mediterranean/Middle East/Far East service via the Suez Canal, called the “AMA.”
