UASC takes delivery of third 6,900-TEU ship from HHI
Kuwait-based United Arab Shipping Co. on Monday received the third of eight 6,919-TEU containerships ordered from Hyundai Heavy Industries at the South Korean shipbuilder’s Ulsan yard.
The United Arab Emirates-flagged vessel Al Bahia — a coastal district of the UAE which translates as pretty, glowing and bright — will join sister vessels Hatta and Al Safat on the weekly Asia/Middle East/Europe Asia-Europe Container (AEC) service.
The eight new ships from HHI, ordered in March 2005 at a cost of $850 million, will replace ships of about 3,800 TEUs.
Hanjin Shipping, Senator Lines, CSAV Norasia and Hapag-Lloyd all take space on various legs of the AEC.
