UNCITRAL study group to meet Sept. 4 in Washington

   A public meeting of the Study Group of the Secretary of State’s Advisory Committee on Private International Law will be held Sept. 4 in Washington, D.C., to consider the draft instrument of a proposed international convention to streamline the carriage of goods by sea.

   The draft instrument has been prepared by the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) Working Group III, which will convene in Vienna Oct. 6-17 to resume deliberations on the text of the proposed convention.

   The study group in Washington will assist the U.S. State and Transportation departments in preparing for the Vienna session.

   The Sept. 14 meeting will be held from 1:30 to 5 p.m. in the offices of Holland & Knight, Suite 100, 2099 Pennsylvania Avenue NW.
