Unisys: Shanghai catching up to Tokyo in e-bookings Unisys today said air cargo electronic business continues to grow rapidly around the world, with growth primarily in Asia.
   Since 2004, Tokyo has been the top location for bookings on Unisys-operated Cargo Portal Services (CPS), a leading electronic booking and shipment management service for the air cargo industry.
   In mid-2005, Tokyo broke the threshold of 1,000 confirmed new bookings made through the service in one week and throughout 2006 it has averaged more than that level on a weekly basis. While Tokyo remains the top station for CPS bookings, Shanghai has been catching up and is close to breaking through the level of 1,000 confirmed new bookings per week, Unisys said.
   “All across Asia, we have been impressed with how our customers have quickly and thoroughly embraced e-booking,' said Jim Friedel, president of Northwest Airlines Cargo, in a statement on behalf of all the CPS carriers.
   Christopher Shawdon, Unisys vice president Logistics Solutions, added that 'CPS continues to grow very rapidly with the number of confirmed bookings up more than 35 percent in the last four months.”
